Maria Elena Filippin

I am currently pursuing a PhD in Economics at Uppsala University and am affiliated with the Center for Monetary Policy and Financial Stability (CeMoF). I am a Visiting PhD student in the Research Division at the Sveriges Riksbank.

My research interests are in macroeconomics, primarily in monetary policy and banking. I have previously worked at the European Central Bank (ECB) in the Directorate General of Monetary Policy, where I was part of a task force that analyzed the policy implications of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). My current research agenda revolves around CBDCs, examining their potential macroeconomic impact on the real economy.
